The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field team tried to put their best foot forward just a week prior to the Horizon League Championships by competing at the Penn Relays and the Ashland Alumni Open.
Ashland Alumni Open
Winning events for the Penguins were Noah Drudy (men's javelin), Addi Watts (women's javelin), Dominic Perry (men's elite shot put), Krista Perry (women's discus), Molly Radcliffe (women's elite shot put), Ryan Henry (men's discus) and Erin Bogard (women's pole vault).
Drudy won the javelin with a throw of 54.64m while Watts won the women's event with a throw of 39.92m.
Dominic Perry won the shot put with a throw of 18.46m while Henry finished third in the event with a toss of 16.86m. Henry went on to win the discus with a throw of 51.89m while Zach Gray was second with a toss of 51.72m.
Radcliffe won the shot put with a throw of 14.74m and was third in the elite discus with a toss of 46.37m.
Krista Perry won the discus with a throw of 44.89m. Bogard took first in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.03m.
Blake Sifferlin posted a career-best mark of 5.06m in the pole vault to earn a fifth-place finish.
Penn Relays
On Saturday, Zach Gehm was in action in the discus, Weston McLain competed in the shot put, Tye Hunt was in action in the long jump and Jakari Lomax took part in the trip jump at the 133rd Penn Relays hosted at Franklin Field.
In the strong field in the discus, Gehm was third with a best throw of 55.52m which came on his third attempt. He was second among college participants.
In the Triple Jump Championship, Jakari Lomax had a strong performance finishing fourth. He had a best leap of 15.63m which came on his fifth attempt. Hunt finished seventh in the long jump with a top leap of 7.16m.
McLain had a best throw of 58.44m in the javelin in his three attempts.

The Penguins will play host to the Horizon League Championships starting on Friday. Events will be held at the YSU Throwing complex and the Covelli Sports Complex during the three days of competition.
