North Canton, Ohio – Emily Bee claimed a victory in the women's long jump while Lonnie Harper led a strong YSU performance in the men's high jump as select members of the track and field program made the trip over to the Walsh Invitational on Thursday at the Don McCallion Track Complex.
Harper led a 1-2-3-5 finish in the high jump for the men. He cleared his first attempt of the meet at 2.00m and that was good enough to claim the title. Finishing in second was Mason Stephens who also cleared 2.00m. Stephens cleared the mark on this third attempt. Terron Taylor cleared 1.95m on his first try to place third and Nathan Leskovac eclipsed 1.90m.
Bee won the long jump with a leap of 5.41m, which came on her second attempt.
Chase Stewart claimed a second-place finish the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:47.90 while Rachel Jeffries finished third in the women's high jump at 1.47m. Lawrence Gawell placed third in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.15m.
In the women's 5,000m run, Hannah Wagner finished fourth with a time of 20:11.89 while Caylee Mackey was fifth clock in a time of 20:16.08.
Joey Stafford placed sixth in the 800m run with a time 1:56.21.
Other Notable Performances:
Taylor recorded a time of 50.97 seconds in the 400m while William Delbaugh posted a time of 51.15 seconds.
Christian Ford and Donnie Ellis ran times of 11.20 seconds in the 100m dash. Ellis ran a time of 22.56 seconds in the 200m.
Clancy Chrystal clocked a time of 59.18 seconds in the 400m hurdles.
Teddi Kinsey had a leap of 5.00m in the long jump.
