The Youngstown State men's tennis team will honor seniors Will Everett, Laurentiu Mandocescu and Javi Gonzalez Pla on Saturday as the Penguins conclude their regular season against Cleveland State at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. First serve for the contest against the Vikings is 2 p.m.

Last year, the trio helped lead the Guins to their first-ever Horizon League regular-season and postseason titles in 2022. In the past two seasons, YSU has combined for 26 dual victories. Last year the Guins won 15 contests, which was the second most by the program in school history. The eight conference wins set a school record.

Pla, who was named Valeo Horizon League All-Academic, has had a breakout campaign this year. Entering the final match of the regular season, he has won 15 singles matches, including 13 in dual play. Both are tops on the team.

Mandosescu and Everett have been key contributors to the lineup since arriving at YSU. Combined they have won 95 singles matches and 97 doubles contests since the fall of 2019.

Everett has won 39 singles matches and been part of 50 doubles wins. He had a career-best 12 victories last year, including the Horizon League Championship clincher over IUPUI.

Mandocescu, the 2022 Horizon League Player of the Year, has won at least 12 singles matches every year during his career, including a career-high 16 last season. In doubles matches, he has been part of 47 victories during his Penguins career.

The Guins dropped a tough 4-3 decision at Cleveland State earlier this season. YSU beat the Vikings 4-3 at home in 2022.

YSU has clinched the No. 2 seed from the Horizon League's newly-created Northern Division and will be in action at the Horizon League Championships on Friday, April 28.
