The Youngstown State women's tennis team defeated IUPUI 6-1 on Monday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center to claim at least a share of the Horizon League regular-season championship. YSU last earned a Horizon League regular-season title in 2018. The last time the Penguins won an outright regular-season championship was in 2015.
YSU improved to 8-8 overall and 5-0 in Horizon League play while the Jaguars fall to 8-14 and 0-4. The Penguins have won six straight matches overall.
The Penguins play host to Oakland on Sunday afternoon. YSU is the only remaining unbeaten team and leads Cleveland State by one match. The Penguins defeated the Vikings earlier this year and will be the No. 1 seed and receive a bye to the semifinals at the Horizon League Championships which are later this month.
Monday's match was moved originally scheduled for IUPUI yesterday, but was moved to YSU.
IUPUI charged out of the gate winning two of three doubles matches to take the point. However, the Guins regrouped in singles to pick up the win.
Highlighting the singles portion of the match for YSU was Cecilia Rosas. Rosas won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles to claim the 50th singles win of her Penguins career. She has now won six straight contests and has a team-high 18 wins this season.

At No. 5, Moka Ito picked up a 6-2, 3-6, 13-11 win. Ito fought off a match point in the third-set super tiebreaker and was able to win the contest on her fifth match-point try. At No. 6, Julia Marko won by an impressive 6-0, 6-1 margin.
