The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up a pair of home victories on Friday afternoon beating SFU-Brooklyn and Duquesne at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.

The Guins (3-3) had to rally for a 4-3 win over the Terriers, but came out strong against the Dukes picking up a 7-0 win.

In the first match of the day, YSU dropped the doubles point after Brooklyn won two of the three contests. The Penguins earned straight set wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 while the Terriers claimed a straight set win at No. 3. Leading 3-2, the match became deadlocked at 3-3 following a three-set win at No. 6 singles.

At No. 5, David Alvarez Moreno won his first set (6-4) before dropping the second (6-4). Down 6-5 and 15-40 in the third, Moreno hit a shot that was called out, but the call was overruled by the official. Moreno won the next two points to force a tiebreaker. In the tiebreak, he was able to seized a three-point lead and eventually claim a 7-5 triumph.

Later in the day, YSU came out swinging against Duquesne. The Guins picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. YSU then won five of the six singles contests in straight sets.

Winning twice on the day were Laurentiu Mandocescu, Nathan Favier and Javi Pla.

YSU closes out its three-match homestand playing host to Navy on Sunday. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
