The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field team combined to win nine events on Friday at the YSU Collegiate Invitational presented by Southwoods Health at the WATTS.
For the women, Lauren Sheehan won the shot put, Erin Bogard won the pole vault, Madison Murry won the 60m hurdles and Nia Williams-Matthews won the triple jump.
For the men, Lonnie Harper won the high jump, Dorian Chaigneau won the pole vault, Tye Hunt won the long jump, Luke Laubacher won the 60m hurdles and Zach Gray won the shot put.
In the long jump the Guins took home the four of the top six spots. Hunt set a meet record with a leap of 7.57m while Jakari Lomax had a personal-best leap of 7.40m. Finishing in fifth place was Laubacher with a leap of 7.12m while Samuel Challis placed sixth at 7.08m.
In the shot put, YSU had the winner, runner-up and fourth-place finisher. Gray won with a personal-best throw of 17.29m while Dominic Perry was second at 17.00m and Ryan Henry finished fourth with a best toss of 16.73m. Gray's previous best throw was 16.67m.
Chaigneau finished in a tie for first while Wyatt Lefker finished third as the Guins had two athletes place in the top three of the event. The top three finishers all cleared the bar at 5.23m, but Chaigneau and Matt Keim each cleared the height on their second attempt while Lefker got over the top on his third.
YSU also had a strong performance in the women's pole vault with first, fourth and fifth-place finishes. Bogard cleared the bar at 4.00m to take the win while Melana Schumaker was fourth at 3.59m and Emma Etzwiler was fifth at 3.49m.
YSU also swept wins in the 60m hurdles with Murry winning on the women's side and Laubacher winning on the men's side. Murry won the event with a time of 8.57 seconds. Laubacher won the men's race with a time of 8.07 seconds.
Sheehan took first place in the shot put with a mark 14.05m while Williams-Matthews won the triple jump on her final attempt leaping 12.33m. Harper took home the title in the high jump with a meet-best performance of 2.02m.
Mackenzie Scott was third in the 5,000m run on the women's side while Luke Baun placed fourth in the 5,000m for the men. Baun ran a time of 15:20.17 while Scott clocked a mark of 17:51.25.
In the 60m dash, Kyndia Matlock placed third with a time of 7.63 seconds.
Other Notable Finishes:
Harry Barton was fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.41 seconds.
Kyndia Matlock finished fifth in the 200m with a time of 25.01 seconds.
Ryan Laird was sixth in the 400m with a time of 49.82 seconds.
Teddi Kinsey was sixth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.06 seconds.
Dante Mediati was seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 15.38m.
Stephanie Simon was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.49m.
Cyncere Cunningham was seventh in the 60m dash with a time of 7.72 seconds.
