Box Score Indianapolis, Ind. – The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Butler on Friday at the Butler Bubble in the spring dual season opener.
The Penguins (0-1) claimed singles wins at No. 3 and No. 6 in the defeat to the Bulldogs (3-1).
Winning in singles was Nathan Favier and Will Everett. At No. 3, Favier picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Borja Miralles while at No. 6, Everett rallied for a 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) win over Rahulniket Konakanchi.
In doubles, YSU was leading at No. 3, but Butler claimed the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. In singles, Butler won in three sets at No. 4.
The Penguins are back in action on Sunday playing a pair of matches at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. The Guins take on Dayton at noon and Ashland at 4:30 p.m. to conclude a busy three-day stretch.
