In the program's final outing prior to the 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Championships, the Youngstown State track and field program closed single-day competition at Ashland's Ashland Alumni Open and Saint Francis' Red Flash Open.
Noah Drudy, at the Red Flash Open, finished third in the men's javelin throw competition with a 61.21m (200' 10") throw. Drudy edged 11 competitors with his throw.
Field Event Highlights
Zach Gehm logged the event's top performance in the men's elite discus throw competition, throwing 53.63m (175' 11"). Just behind, Zach Gray took fourth with a 51.09m (167' 7") mark.
In the men's elite shot put, Dominic Perry posted a 16.68m (54' 8¾") throw for eighth overall in a talented field. In the women's event, Molly Radcliffe finished third with a 15.49m (50' 10") chuck.
Erin Bogard took third in Saturday's women's pole vault event, clearing 3.98m (13' 0¾") for the third-best vault of the day. Emma Etzwiler and Katlyn Griffie finished tied for seventh with a 3.58m (11' 9") vault.
Emily Wolf logged the Penguins' best finish in the women's discus throw, tossing a 39.56m (129' 9") mark for a fourth-place finish in a field of 33 throwers. Coleson Kertesz highlighted the men's discus event for YSU, chucking 45.16m (148' 2") for a runner-up finish in the event.
Running Highlights
Maria Dellimuti and Caylee Mackey went 3, 4 in the women's 5000m in a start list of 15 entries. Dellimuti clocked a 19:50.93, with Mackey finishing just after with a time of 20:17.51.
Acting as the  lone Penguin competitor in the event, Brody Rupe posted a time of 10:22.40 in the men's 300m steeplechase for the fifth-fastest time overall.
Alicia Lonsinger clocked a 1:02.11 in the women's 400m dash for a top-10 finish in the event, edging 15 runners in a 25-competitor field. William Delbaugh posed as YSU's best male finisher in the 400m, turning in a time of 51.83 for 17th.
Logan Franczkowski acted as the best Penguins finisher in the women's 100m dash, clocking a time of 12.67 seconds for the seventh-quickest time of Saturday's event. In the men's race, Antoine Brown clocked an 11.14 for sixth overall.

The Penguins will be back in action next weekend, May 5-7, competing at the 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Championships hosted by Oakland in Rochester, Mich.
