KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Climaxed by a new school record set by fourth-year Penguin Zach Gehm, the Youngstown State track and field program concluded Tennessee's Tennessee Relays on Saturday afternoon at the Tom Black Track in Knoxville, Tenn.
On his first throw during Saturday's event at the Tennessee Relays, Gehm posted a program record 58.02m (190' 4") mark in the men's discus throw. The Harmony, Pa., native uplifts his previous school record mark of 55.54m (182' 2") set at the Northeast Ohio Quad during the 2021 outdoor season. Gehm captured the runner-up nod with his record-breaking performance.
Concluding her impressive weekend performance, first-year Penguin Molly Radcliffe logged an eighth-place finish in the women's discus with a 44.54m (146' 1") throw on her second attempt. Her mark comes in just four feet short of her school record toss of 48.02m (157-6) logged at the N.C. State Raleigh Relays on March 19.
Katlyn Griffie, on her first attempt at the height, cleared a 3.65m (11' 11¾") bar in the women's pole vault competition to earned a sixth-place finish in the event. Griffie went on to attempt 3.80m (12' 5½"), which matches her personal best, but failed to clear.
Representing YSU in the women's triple jump, Nia Williams-Matthews posted an 11.66m (38' 3¼") leap on her first attempt of the event to earn a sixth-place overall finish.
