Box Score Indianapolis, Ind. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team stayed unbeaten in Horizon League play with a 4-3 victory over IUPUI on Sunday at the West Indy Racquet Club.
The Penguins improve to 8-8 overall and 4-0 in Horizon League contests while the Jaguars drop to 6-15 and 2-2.
IUPUI took the early lead in the contest by winning the doubles point. The Jaguars claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to take the point.
For the second straight match, the Guins relied on a strong performance in singles to win the match.
At No. 6, Will Everett picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory to tie the contest. IUPUI went in front 2-1 following a straight set win at No. 1 singles.
At No. 5, David Alvarez Moreno earned a 2-6, 6-3, 1-1 win when Blessing Benibo was forced to retire. Harry Fouzas earned an impressive 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2.
YSU clinched the match with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win by Javi Pla at No. 4 singles.
The Penguins return to action on Saturday when they visit Northern Kentucky.
