Hunt Sets Long Jump School Record, Penguins Conclude Day One at Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Penn. – Tye Hunt's second school record set in the last three weeks of competition, combined with multiple personal-bests set fueled a successful first day of competition at Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic for the Youngstown State track and field program.

Field Event Highlights
Nearly three weeks since his last record-breaking performance in the event at the N.C. State Raleigh Relays, Hunt uplifted his own record of 7.43m (24' 4½") in the long jump. On his sixth and final attempt, Hunt leaped to a 7.68m (25' 2½") for the YSU school record and the event victory.

Collectively, including Hunt's jump, the Penguins owned the event's top three marks and four of the top five. Jakari Lomax and Samuel Challis finished second and third in the event, posting personal-best 7.42m (24' 4¼") marks. Daiquain Watson took fifth with a personal-best 7.30m (23' 11½") leap.

Third-year Penguin Wyatt Lefker won the men's pole vault, clearing a 4.95m (16' 2¾") bar on his first attempt at the height. Lefker attempted 5.11m (16' 9¼") but wasn't able to surpass. Fellow third-year Jett Murphy finished ninth, clearing 4.20m (13' 9¼") on his second attempt at the height.

Tossing 61.32 (201' 2") on his third attempt of the event, Noah Drudy grabbed a sixth-place finish in the javelin. Drudy tossed three attempts during finals, two of which surpassed 60m.

Leaping to a personal-best mark of 5.67m (18' 7¼") on her second attempt, Alexis Prater logged a fourth-place finish in the women's long jump. Nia Williams-Matthews jumped 5.44m (17' 10¼") for 20th.

Tossing a personal-best 42.04m (137' 11") mark on her second attempt, Emily Wolf posted the best Penguin finish in the women's discus throw with a 12th-place finish. With a 41.97m (137' 8") heave, Molly Radcliffe finished 13th and Krista Perry finished 20th with a personal-best 37.23m (122' 1") chuck.

Running Highlights
Clocking the second-quickest time in school history, Morgan Cole clocked a six-second personal best in the women's 5000m, posting time of 16:41.45 for fifth-fastest time of 59 entries. Also logging a top-25 finish, Ashleigh Rowley finished with a time of 17:19.36 for 21st.

Leading the charge in the women's 1500m run, fourth-year Penguin Lauren Dolak clocked a personal-best time of 4:43.65 to post the sixth-fastest time of the event. Just seconds behind, Aiamyia Dudley recorded a personal-best time of 4:49.87 for 31st. Over 90 runners competed in the event.

In the men's event, CJ Schumacher acted as the best Penguin finisher, crossing with a personal-best time of 3:57.31 to finish 14th. After, and all turning in personal-best performances with their finishes, Evan Alten finished 29th with a time of 3:59.03, Riley Jackson came in 35th with a time of 3:59.84 and Jack Wilcoxson was awarded 59th with a time of 4:02.22. 95 runners competed in the men's race.

Maggie Sebest clocked a season-best time of 11:27.44 in the women's 3000m steeplechase to earn a 13th-place finish in the event in a field of 35 competitors.

Clocking a 10-second personal-best time of 14:28.12, Chase Easterling finished 17th overall in the men's 5000m race in field of 95 runners. Derek Basinger finished 46th with a personal-best time of 14.48.29.

Logging a personal-best time of 4:33.30, Nicole Squatrito highlighted the YSU effort in the women's 1500m run invitational with a 21st-place finish. Following, Natalie Fleming picked-up a 48th-place finish with a time of 4:41.09 and Carly Hall, recording a personal best, finished 52nd with a time of 4:42.21.

Up Next
Saturday's slate at the Bison Outdoor Classic will kick-off with the women's javelin throw that's set to commence at 9:30 a.m., with an array of field events to follow. Running events will begin thirty minutes later, at 10:30 a.m., with the women's 3000m.
