Jacksonville, Fla. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decison to North Florida on Tuesday at the UNF Tennis Complex.
Clement Mainguy earned a win at No. 4 over PJ Kolan by a score of 6-4, 6-2. It has been a busy stretch for Mainguy who played a Davis Cup Match in Estonia late last week.
The Guins (5-6) dropped a pair of three-set contests at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5. At No. 1, Laurentiu Mandocescu dropped a tough 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 10-5 contest to Jonas Hartenstein. At No. 5, Erik Gran suffered a tough 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 decision to Jorge Nunez. At No. 2, Javier Pla fell 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 to Nilo Duarte.
The Osperey's won the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. UNF (8-4) won by retirement at No. 3 and picked up a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot.
The Penguins close out their matches in Florida with a contest at Stetson on Wednesday. First serve against the Hatters is scheduled for 3 p.m.
