Cincinnati, Ohio - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Xavier on Saturday at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Center.
For the Guins, Will Everett and Javier Pla picked up singles wins. Five of the six singles contests went three sets in the marathon match.
Everett earned a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over Caden Kammerer at No. 6 singles. At No. 4 singles, Pla rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Charlie Temming. The Musketeers won at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 in three sets.
Xavier earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The match at No. 3 was tied 6-6 when the Musketeers clinched the point.
YSU returns to action on Friday when they visit Marquette.
