Highland Heights, Ky. - The Youngstown State women's soccer team picked up its second straight Horizon League win and remained unbeaten in its most recent three league contests following a 1-0 win against Northern Kentucky at the NKU Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Penguins improve to 4-6-3 overall and 2-2-2 in Horizon League play while the Norse fall to 1-8-2 and 1-4-1. YSU beat Green Bay 3-0 earlier this week after tying Milwaukee 1-1 on Sept. 25.

YSU jumped out in front at the 16:58 mark of the first half on an unassisted goal by Elis Klein Spindola. It marked the second straight contest that Spindola found the back of the net.

Goalkeeper Brooklynn Kirkpatrick tied a single-season record by posting her fifth clean sheet of the season fending off four Norse shots in the contest.

NKU outshot the Penguins 11-7 and had a narrow 4-3 lead in shots on goal. NKU played two goalkeepers in the matchup making a switch at intermission trailing 1-0. Regan LaVigna led YSU with three total shot attempts while four others had one, including Spindola's goal in the first half.

YSU will look to extend its winning streak on Thursday when it entertains Purdue Fort Wayne. Kickoff at Farmers National Bank Field is set for 7 p.m.
