Youngstown, Ohio -- Senior Abriana Rondin scored for the second time in three games and Brooklynn Kirkpatrick set the single-season shutouts record as the Youngstown State women's soccer team knocked off Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday evening at Farmers National Bank Field.
The Penguins, who have won three straight, improve to 5-6-3 overall and 3-2-2 in Horizon League play while the Mastodons fall tp 7-2-5 overall and 3-1-3.
Rondin, who had four shots and three shots on goal, buried the game-winner in the bottom-left corner of the net at the 27:22 mark off a feed from freshman Taylor Berry.
From then on the Penguins' defense and Kirkpatrick took over. The Penguins outshot the Mastodons, 10-3, in the first half, but the second half was a much different story.
Kirkpatrick faced 12 total shots after halftime and stopped all three shots on goal. She finished with four total saves.
Youngstown State faces Cleveland State, Sunday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.Â
