Champaign, Ill. - The Youngstown State men's team picked up a pair of doubles and singles wins against some of the best tennis players in the region at the ITA Midwest Regionals which were hosted by Illinois.
Winning singles matches in three sets were Nathan Favier and David Alvarez Moreno during the singles qualifying stage. In the main draw, Clement Mainguy and Laurentiu Mandocescu both dropped tight matches in three sets.
In doubles play, Mainguy and Harry Fouzas picked up a win over Notre Dame while Mandocescu and Favier earned an 8-7 win against Northwestern. The pairs lost two tough matches in the round of 32.
The Penguins return to action this weekend when they head to the three-day (Oct. 28-30) Viking Invitational hosted by Cleveland State.
