Annapolis, Md. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team won three singles matches, but dropped a 4-3 decision to Navy on Saturday morning at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
In doubles, Navy earned the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The Penguins picked up a win at No. 3 singles as Clement Mainguy and Nathan Favier picked up a 6-4 win over Will Pak and Luke Garner.
In singles, YSU picked up wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 in the lineup. At No. 4, Harry Fouzas earned a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win over Sasha Panyan. At No. 5, Favier won a 6-4, 7-6 (4) contest against Garner and at No. 6, Mainguy improved to 2-0 on the spring with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win against Cy McLeod.
Navy picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1 and a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3. The clinching match was at No. 2. Javi Pla won his first set 7-5 aginst Jack McBride before dropping the final two sets 7-6 (2) and 6-3.
The Penguins are next in action on Friday when they visit Dayton. First serve against the Flyers is set for 7 p.m.
