Acting as the final competitor of the 2021 outdoor track and field season, Youngstown State junior Olivia Jones brought the season to a close with the conclusion of the women's javelin throw competition at the 2021 Muller British Athletics Championships.
On her third attempt of the event, Jones posted her best throw of the meet with a 39.29m mark - a distance that comes in just shy of her personal-best and season-best throw of 45.64m. Jones' mark earned her a 9th-place nod on the afternoon in the windy conditions inside Manchester Regional Arena.
With the performance, Jones joins hurdler Collin Harden as the second Penguins' athlete to represent YSU in an Olympic Trials meet this season. Harden placed 17th overall during first round races of the men's 400m hurdles at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Hayward Field on April 24th.
