RALEIGH, North Carolina – Highlighted by Sean Peterson setting a new school record in the men's 1500-meter run, the Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams posted a strong showing on the first day of action from the three-day North Carolina State Raleigh Relays.
Among the many notable performances from Thursday's action, Peterson, in the third-to-last event of the day, set a new YSU program record in the men's 1500-meter run, posting a time of 3:46.46. The previous record (3:47.03) was held by former All-American and Penguin-standout Kurt Michaelis and was set in 2004. Peterson's mark also sets a new personal-best by over three seconds.
Over to the starting blocks, senior Collin Harden clocked the second-fastest 110-meter hurdles time in program history, running a 13.96. The top record is held by former-Penguin and six-time All-American Chad Zallow with a time of 13.37.
