The Youngstown State men's tennis team won five singles matches to beat Xavier 5-2 on Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
YSU picked up its second consecutive win to improve to 2-4 on the season while the Musketeers are now 1-2.
The Penguins won in straight sets at No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
At No. 2, Laurentiu Mandocsecu beat Srdan Pejic, 6-1, 7-6. At No. 3, Erik Gran defeated Matthew Graft, 6-3, 6-2. Joao Garretto beat Shashank Reddy 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 and David Alvarez Moreno beat Aaron Thompson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. At No. 4, Wil Everett picked up a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 victory over Cambell Nakayama
YSU returns to action on Friday when it plays host to St. Bonaventure and Saint Francis (Pa.) at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
