Cleveland, Ohio - The Youngstown State men's tennis team finished its fall tournament campaign at the three-day Vikings Invitational on Sunday at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
The Penguins had a strong performance in doubles winning the back draw and advancing to the championship match.
Joao Garretto and Larentiu Mandocescu reached the finals in doubles. The duo won their first three matches before dropping Sunday's final 6-2 to Cleveland State's Luke Phillips and Matthew Terry. Erik Gran and Will Everett dropped their opening match then picked up three straight wins to win the back draw. On Sunday, the pair defeated Cleveland State's Jack Santilli and Clark Bilinovich, 6-3.
In singles, Mandocescu picked up a pair of wins in the back draw. Gran picked up a win in the main draw and again in the backdraw. Garretto also picked up a victory in the back draw.
