Penguins Suffer First Setback Falling 4-1 to Weber State

Las Vegas - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Weber State on Friday morning at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex.

It was the first dual loss of the season for the Penguins who drop to 4-1 on the season. The Wildats improve to 2-2 with the win.

Weber State picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. YSU's Mitch Maroscher and Thomas Rodrigues earned a 6-5 win over Stefan Cooper and Shao-Po Yin. The Wildcats won 6-2 at No. 2 and 6-3 at No. 3.

Maroscher improved to 5-0 in dual play with an impressive 6-0, 6-2 victory over Yin at No. 1 singles. WSU earned straight set wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 to claim the dual match victory.

At No. 2 singles, Matthew Kritzinger was in a tight 6-3, 2-6, 2-1 match with Cooper that was stopped when WSU clinched the victory. Gabriel Tolesani was in a 6-4, 0-4 match at No. 4 vs. Cezary Walkusz that was unfinished as well.

The Penguins have a busy Saturday as they take on UNLV and New Mexico State. The match against the Runnin' Rebels will start at 1 p.m. Eastern with the contest against the Aggies slated for a 5 p.m. start.
