Allegheny, Pa. - Select members of the Youngstown State track and field team were in action on Friday at the Allegheny Gator Invitational at the Frank B. Fuhrer Field at Robertson Complex. The Penguins won seven individual events at the meet.
Winning events for the women were Amber Eles and Jennifer Shiley. For the men, Leighton Antonio took first in the 100m and 200m dashes. In the field events, Arnaldo Morales took first in the high jump, Ryan Booth won the shut put and Conner Neu was the winner in the hammer throw.
Eles won the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.71 seconds while Shiley won the 400m hurdles with a season-best-tying time of 1:01.77.
Antonio and Carl Zallow went 1-2 in the 100m dash. In the race, Antonio clocked in a time of 10.72 seconds while Zallow was just behind at 10.78 seconds. Antonio won the 200m dash with a time of 21.44 seconds.
In the distance races, Ryan Sullivan finished fourth in the 1,500m run with a time of 3:54.41 and Jon Hutnyan was fourth in the 5,000m with a time of 15:24.52.
Morales won the high jump clearing a height of 2.06m and Jay Jakovina was second at 2.01m.
YSU took first and third in the shout put. Booth won the event with a throw of 17.23m while Chiclowe was third at 16.42m.
Neu won the hammer throw with a toss of 65.27m.
Select Penguins will take part in the NCAA Regionals in Jacksonville, Fla., later this month. The field for the regionals is announced on Thursday.
