San Francisco, Calif. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to San Francisco on Monday afternoon at Golden Gate Park. The Guins dropped three singels matches in three sets.
YSU (3-8) lost in three sets at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to the Dons (7-5). At No. 6 singles, Sharvil Nawghere dropped a 6-4, 7-6, 10-8 thriller to Timothy Tan. At No. 5 singles, Zeeshan Ismail lost a tough 6-7, 6-1, 10-8 decision to Christian Brockstedt. In another hard-fought match, Dawoud Kabli at No. 3, 6-7, 6-4 and 10-7 to USF's Thomas Takemoto.
The Dons had straight set wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 in the match and earned the doubles point.
The Penguins wrap up their trip to California on Wednesday when they play at UC Davis. The match is set for 4 p.m. Eastern time/1 p.m. Pacific time.
