The Youngstown State track and field team opened competition on Thursday at the Penn Relays with a strong performance in the women's 4x100-meter relay at Franklin Field.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Laura Kosiorek, Ciara Jarrett, Alexis Washington and Nina Grambling had a time of 46.34 seconds. YSU placed 16th out of 77 schools and was third in a very-fast heat behind Oregon and Morgan State.
The Penguins are among the group of eight who will compete in the College Final (Event No. 335) on Friday at 12:55 p.m.
In the afternoon, Grambling placed 11th in the long jump with a leap of 5.65 meters while Jarrett was 16th with a distance of 5.49 meters.
Also in action was Nicole Pachol who had a time of 1:04.31 in the 400-meter hurdles and Brittany Stockmaster had a time of 18:20.58 in the 3,000-meter run. Nick Gliha had a time of 15:05.46 in the Olympic Development 5,000-meter run.
