Youngstown State senior thrower John Seaver will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary on Friday at the Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.

Seaver has had an outstanding senior campaign winning the Horizon League title in both the indoor and outdoor shot put events. In outdoor competition this spring, his longest throw is 17.74 meters at the Ashland Open. At the Horizon League meet he won with a toss of 17.47 meters.

Seaver will compete in the shot put on Friday at 5 p.m. Entering the meet he ranks 26th in the East with his toss of 17.74 meters on April 26.

The qualifiers out of the West (Austin, Texas) and East regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
