Ball Kicked Out of Goalkeeper's Hands Sends Penguins to 1-0 Loss to Detroit

Youngstown, Ohio -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Horizon League foe Detroit on Friday afternoon at Farmers National Bank Field.
The Penguins fall to 4-12-1 overall and 2-5 in the Horizon League while the Titans improve to 10-7-1 and 4-3 in the league.
With just 8:30 left in the first half, Detroit's Alyssa Lotito sent a corner kick into the penalty box. Youngstown State goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky leaped and gained possession of the ball for a moment before losing control.
Podolsky gathered herself and secured the ball with her left one and pinned the ball against the ground. After Podolsky secured the ball, Jennifer Borawski kicked the ball from Podolsky grasp into the center of the net.
The Penguins, who outshot the Titans, 12-10, were unable to convert any of their eight shots in the second half.
Youngstown State still earned the No. 6 seed in the 2013 Horizon League Soccer Tournament and will visit No. 3 Oakland, Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m.
