Box Score Valparaiso, Ind. -- Freshman Shay Sade scored in the 36th minute and that was all the offense the Youngstown State women's soccer team needed in a 1-0 win over Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon. Freshman goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky posted her first career shutout with seven saves.
The Guins improve to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the Horizon League while Valparaiso falls to 9-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the league.
Valparaiso drilled 26 shots and 7 shots on goal but Podolsky denied each one.
Sade, who scored at the 36:05 mark, drilled a 30-yard shot into the upper-right corner of the goal for the game-winner.
The Guins had just eight total shots and just four shots on goal against the Crusaders.
The Guins visit Detroit, Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 4 p.m.
