Box Score Indianapolis -- Youngstown State sophomore Aaron Swenson
has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week for the
second time this season, the league announced on Monday.
Swenson earned his sixth league win of the season against Valpo
on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits in a complete-game
effort.
The Twinsburg, Ohio, native retired 10 straight batters until
No. 9 hitter John Giusti singled to start the sixth inning. He was
sacrificed to second and scored later in the inning on a two-out
single for Valpo's only run.
Swenson is now 6-3 overall and 6-1 in Horizon League games after
picking up his fifth complete game victory of the year on Saturday.
He leads the Horizon League in innings pitched (85.2) and
strikeouts (61), ranks second in wins (6), and is third in ERA
(3.68) and opposing batting average (.255).
Swenson will go for his seventh win on Thursday at Miller Park
when he pitches against Miwlaukee.
