Penguins Score Season-High Goals in 3-0 Win Over Mastodons

Youngstown, Ohio – The Youngstown State women's soccer team scored a season-high three goals in a 3-0 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday afternoon at Farmers National Bank Field.

The Penguins improve to 2-7-3 overall and 2-0-1 in Horizon League play while the Mastodons fall to 1-8-1 overall and 0-3 in league action.

Camille Bultel scored a goal and tallied an assist while Sara Felder and Baylee Williams also recorded goals. Kamryn Rosa and Ghita Haouzi were each credited with assists.

Junior goalkeeper Kendall Sears posted the first shutout of her career while facing seven shots from the Mastodons.

For the second straight game, Youngstown State bombarded its opponent with at least 20 shots, outshooting the Mastodons, 21-7, including 10 shots on goal.

After a battling through a more than 50 minutes, the Penguins erupted for three second-half goals.

Just five minutes into the second half, Bultel corralled a pass from YSU defender and hit a touch pass to Rosa. Rosa sent through to the middle of the penalty box, Felder beat the Mastodon defense, and her right-footer found the lower-right side of the goal for a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute.

The Penguins took a 2-0 lead in the 70th minute of the game when Williams scored her first goal of the season. Haouzi delivered a long pass from midfield to an open Williams on the right side. Two touches later, Williams fired a shot from just outside the 18 into the top left of the goal.

Bultel, who scored her first goal of the season, sealed the game on a penalty kick at the 86:14 mark.

Bultel led the Penguins with seven shots while Felder and Elena Zuchowski each had four.

Youngstown State begins a two-game road trip against Oakland, Thursday, Oct. 1. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Oakland Soccer Field in Rochester, Mich.
