Opening Kick
The Youngstown State women's soccer team close out its two-game homestand when it hosts Eastern Kentucky, Sunday, Aug. 23. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field in Youngstown, Ohio. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
HL Preseason Poll
Youngstown State was picked to finish third in the 2026 Horizon League Preseason Poll. The Penguins accumulated 103 points, and Milwaukee was tabbed as the Horizon League preseason favorite with 142 points.

Youngstown State head back on the road for three straight games beginning with an in-state battle against Miami (Ohio), Sunday, Aug. 30. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.
Last Time Out
The Penguins battled in-state rival Kent State to a 1-1 draw on Aug. 20, at Farmers National Bank Field. After the Golden Flashes went up 1-0, senior Autumn Fairfax scored her first goal of the season to knot the game at 1-1 in the 41st minute. Fifth-year Elena Zuchowski was credited with the assist and goalkeeper Kendall Sears posted two saves.
Tough Slate
Youngstown State Head Coach Rich Wall loaded up the non-league portion of the schedule for the second straight season with teams from the American, ACC, Big Ten, and SEC along with teams from the Atlantic-10, Atlantic Sun, Mid-American Conference, and the Patriot League.
About Eastern Kentucky
Eastern Kentucky enters the game with an overall record of 1-1 after falling to Cincinnati, 3-0, and defeating Horizon League foe Cleveland State, 5-0. Five different players have scored goals for the Colonels in 2026.
The Eastern Kentucky Series
This is is jus the second meeting between Youngstown State and Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels defeated the Penguins, 1-0, in the only matchup on Sept. 8, 2024.
Air Autumn
Senior Autumn Fairfax scored her first goal as a Penguin to lift the Penguins to a 1-1 draw against Kent State on Aug. 20. After trailing 1-0 through much of the first half, fifth-year Elena Zuchowski lofted a free kick on the left side of the six and Fairfax elevated over the Golden Flashes defenders, and her header found the right corner of the net at the 40:28 mark.
Haouzi Notches First Career Goal
Sophomore Ghita Haouzi scored her first career goal on her first career shot on goal in the Penguins' 3-1 loss to Indiana on Aug. 16. Haouzi missed all of the 2025 season due to injury.
Felder Among Scoring Leaders
Senior Sara Felder has scored 12 goals in 41career games played and ranks tied for fifth on the Youngstown State all-time goals scored list. Felder is the eight Youngstown State player to score at least 12 goals in a career. She also has scored 27 total points and needs two more to move into a tie for 10th place.
Rosa Rising
Sophomore Kamryn Rosa posted one of the best freshman campaigns in school history during the 2025 season. Rosa posted seven goals with two assists for 16 total points. Her seven goals were tied for the third most by a YSU freshman and the most since 2011. Rosa's 16 points rank tied for third on the freshman list and are the most since 2010.
