Savannah, Ga. -- The Youngstown State men's golf team concluded play in the two-day Savannah Intercollegiate on Sunday at The Club at Savannah Harbor in its first event of the spring season.
The Penguins finished the 54-hole event with a three-round total of 922 to finish 16th on the team leaderboard. YSU recorded single-round team scores of 303 and 301 in the first two rounds, respectively, on Saturday before posting a 318 during the third and final session on Sunday.
Jordan Kish finished tied for 33rd with a three-round score of 226 (74-74-78) to come in as YSU's top individual. The sophomore's two-over-par 74 in the opening round on Monday featured 14 pars and a birdie on the par- three No. 3 as he fired an even-par 36 on the front nine.
Ryan Sam finished tied for 38th with a three-round total of 227 (76-73-78). The senior's second-round 73 included 10 pars and four birdies as he carded an even-par 36 on the back nine.
Michael Porter concluded the tournament with a three-round 233 (71-77-85). The redshirt junior's one-under-par 71 in the opening round featured 14 pars and three birdies as he shot a one-under-par 35 on the back nine.
Playing as an individual, Jake Ryan posted a three-round score of 238 (73-77-88). The junior's first-round 73 included 13 pars and a pair of birdies.
Rocco Turner recorded a three-round total of 241 (82-81-78) while Nolan Shilling concluded the spring season opener with a 243 (82-77-84).
West Georgia claimed the tournament title at 24 over par with a three-round team total of 888, finishing two shots ahead of runner-up Iona. The Wolves fired a single-round team score of 299 on Sunday to rally from sixth place to the top of the team leaderboard. Creighton and Longwood each finished tied for third while Morehead State rounded out the top five in the team standings.
West Georgia's Milton Wallin and Longwood's Hunter Swidzinski each turned in a three-round score of 215 to finish tied atop the individual leaderboard.
Youngstown State will continue the spring portion of its 2025-26 season on March 9-10 with the Jackrabbit Invitational hosted by South Dakota State at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
