Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. – The Youngstown State men's golf team placed fifth at the 2026 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship, which concluded on Monday from Mission Resort + Club.
The Penguins posted a final-round team score of 302 in Monday's third and final round on Mission Resort + Club's El Campeon Course to finish fifth with a three-round total of 895.
Wright State and Oakland, the top two seeds heading into the tournament, each concluded three rounds of play with a total of 875 (+11) to finish tied atop the team leaderboard. The Raiders emerged victorious following a playoff to win the Horizon League title and earn a berth in the NCAA Regionals.
Green Bay placed third with a three-day total of 887 following a final-round 299 while Purdue Fort Wayne posted a 302 on Monday to finish fourth with a total of 888.
Ryan Sam, YSU's lone senior and team captain, finished tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard at his fourth and final Horizon League Championship. The Canfield, Ohio, native recorded a three-round score of 223 after carding a final-round 78 on Monday. Starting on No. 1, the senior's final collegiate round featured 10 pars and two birdies coming at No. 7 and No. 14.
Michael Porter also finished with a three-round total of 223 following an even-par round of 72 on Monday. The redshirt junior tallied 10 pars and four birdies during his final round while firing a one-under-par 34 on the front nine.
Nolan Shilling finished tied for 24th with a three-round score of 226 after turning in a round of 78 on Monday. The redshirt sophomore's final session included three birdies which came at No. 1, No. 10 and No. 14.
Jake Ryan posted a 79 in Monday's final round to conclude competition with a three-day total of 228. The junior carded a pair of birdies and an eagle on the par-five No. 10 during his final round of action.
Jordan Kish closed the event with a three-round score of 231 following a two-over-par 74 on Monday. The sophomore's final round featured 10 pars and three birdies as he recorded an even-par 37 on the back nine.
Wright State's Shane Ochs claimed individual medalist honors with a five-under-par three-round total of 211 (70-71-70). Oakland's Rakshit Dahiya was the individual runner-up with a three-round score of 213 (69-72-72).
