Juniors Micah Mitchell and Lukas Lang were named the Under Armour #HLTF Men's Runner and Field Athlete of the week following personal-best performances at last Friday's YSU Last Chance Invitational.
Both Mitchell (60m hurdles) and Lang (pole vault) lead the Horizon League in their respective events.
Mitchell won the 60m hurdles at the YSU Last Chance Invitational with a time of 7.84 seconds to win a fast event that had the top five all go 8.01 or faster. He lowered his career best time from 7.90 seconds which came back on Jan. 17, 2025. Overall, he leads the HL by 0.15 seconds over teammate Brandon Hutchinson.
For the second straight meet, Lang posted a personal-best clearance in the pole vault this time at the YSU Last Chance Invitational. Lang cleared a height of 5.12m to finish fourth at the event. He had a personal best of 5.11m in his last competition.
Lang and the YSU pole vaulters will be in action this Friday at the Akron Invitational. The Penguins are set to host the Horizon League Championships on Feb. 28-March 1 at the WATTS in Youngstown.
