Sears Named DPOW
After posting consecutive shutouts last week, junior goalkeeper Kendall Sears was named the Under Armour Horizon League Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5. Sears led the Penguins to a 2-0 record last week with a pair of road wins at Oakland and Detroit Mercy. She posted a pair of shutouts and averaged four saves per game. In her first clean sheet, the Penguins knocked off Oakland, 1-0, while Sears posted three saves. Against Detroit Mercy, Youngstown State won 3-0, and Sears tallied five saves.
The French Connection
Senior Camille Bultel, an All-Horizon League Third Team pick in 2025 after scoring four goals with four assists for 12 points, has been instrumental for the Penguins this season. Although appearing in just eight games, Bultel has scored two goals and dished out four assists for five total points. The Penguins have scored at least one goal in each game she has appeared and she has tallied at least one point in four of those contests.
Haouzi Called Up
Sophomore Ghita Haouzi has been called up to the Morocco Women's U23 National Team and is participating in its training camp during the FIFA International Window. Haouzi leads the Penguins with nine points on three goals and three assists.
Sears Sizzling in Net
After posting back-to-back shutouts against Oakland and Detroit Mercy, junior Kendall Sears became just the third player in school history to post three consecutive shutouts in a season. The record is four set by Maya Naimoli in 2025. Brooklynn Kirkpatrick accomplished the feat twice in 2022.
Air Autumn
Senior Autumn Fairfax helped the Penguins to a 3-0 win over Detroit Mercy with her second goal of the season. Both of Fairfax's goals came from headers following free kicks into the six. She scored her first goal as a Penguin to lift the Penguins to a 1-1 draw against Kent State on Aug. 20. After trailing 1-0 through much of the first half, fifth-year Elena Zuchowski lofted a free kick on the left side of the six and Fairfax elevated over the Golden Flashes defenders, and her header found the right corner of the net at the 40:28 mark.
