Nashport, Ohio -- The Youngstown State men's golf team finished eighth at the two-day Virtues Intercollegiate, which concluded on Tuesday from Virtues Golf Club.
The Penguins concluded the 54-hole tournament with a three-round total of 889 (+25) to place eighth on the team leaderboard. YSU opened the event with team scores of 295 (+7) and 296 (+8) in the first two rounds, respectively, on Monday before posting a 298 (+10) in the third and final session on Tuesday.
Ryan Sam finished tied for 22nd with a three-round score of 220 (72-75-73) to come in as YSU's top individual. The senior's even-par 72 in the opening round of play featured 12 pars and three birdies as he fired a three-under-par 33 on the front nine. Sam also carded nine pars and four birdies during the final round of action.
Jordan Kish finished tied for 29th with a three-round total of 222 (72-74-76). The sophomore's even-par 72 in the first round included 12 pars and three birdies as he shot a two-under-par 34 on the front nine.
Michael Porter finished tied for 40th with a three-round 225 (75-73-77). The redshirt junior's one-over-par 73 in the second round featured 11 pars and three birdies. Playing as an individual, Jake Ryan also recorded a three-round 225 (73-75-77). The junior's first-round 73 included 13 pars and a pair of birdies. Ryan also eagled the par-five No. 10 during the third and final round.
Nolan Shilling turned in a three-round score of 227 (78-74-75) while Ayden Richmond finished with a three-round total of 230 (76-80-74).
Notre Dame claimed the tournament title with a three-round team total of 843 (-21) while Butler finished as the runner-up with an 855 (-9). Loyola Chicago placed third with an 861 (-3) while Wright State and Marshall each tied for fourth with an 875 (+11).
Notre Dame's Pavel Tsar earned medalist honors at 13 under par with a three-round individual score of 203 (66-66-71). Butler's Logan Sutto (71-72-64) and Notre Dame's Mike Qiu (70-66-71) each finished with a three-round 207 to tie for second place on the individual leaderboard.
Youngstown State will continue the fall portion of its 2025-26 season on Oct. 6-7 with Cleveland State's Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood Country Club in Westlake, Ohio.
