Penguins Host Titans in Critical League Match Sunday Afternoon

Opening Kick
• The Youngstown State women's soccer team (2-8-1, 1-1-1 Horizon League) plays its final game of the month when it returns home to host Detroit Mercy, Sunday, Sept. 28.
• Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field in Youngstown, Ohio.

The Matchup
• This is the 28th meeting between Youngstown State and Detroit Mercy in a series dating back to 2000.
• The Titans own a 24-3 advantage in the all-time series and have won the last three contest.
• The last Youngstown State victory was a 2-1 overtime win on Sept. 23, 2021, at Farmers Natonal Bank Field.
• Last season, Detroit Mercy knocked off the Penguins, 3-1, in Detroit, Mich.

About Detroit Mercy
• Detroit Mercy enters the game with an overall record of 2-8-1 and a 0-2-1 mark in Horizon League play.
• The Titans, who are coming off back-to-back 1-0 losses to Wright State on Sept. 21 and Robert Morris on Sept. 25, are led by Abby Lodato with seven goals and three assists for 17 points.
• Lodato leads the Horizon League in points and is tied for the lead in goals scored.

Up Next
• The Penguins head back on the road to face in-state and Horizon League foe Wright State on Saturday, Oct. 4.
• Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Alumni Field at Rinzler Student Sports Complex in Dayton, Ohio.

Last Time Out
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa scored in the 78th minute to secure a 1-1 tie against Cleveland State on Sept. 25.
• It marked Rosa's third goal of the season.

The Green Bay Win
• The Penguins picked up a 3-2 win over Green Bay in the 2025 Horizon League opener.
• Sophomore Sara Felder scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Penguins.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa scored her second goal of the year, and senior Emma Rigone was credited with the game-winner.
 • Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered seven saves.
• The win marked just the second time the Penguins began Horizon League play 1-0.

Naimoli Moving Up Lists
• Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered her first shutout of the season and her the fourth clean sheet of her career in the Penguins' win over St. Bonaventure.
• She now ranks tied for seventh with four career shutouts.
• Naimoli also ranks fifth on the career wins list with seven.
• Naimoli is also moving up the career saves list with 166 and needs 10 to move into a tie for 10th with Jackie Podolsky at 176.

Rosa Rising
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa is now tied for the team lead with three goals this season.
• Youngstown State is 2-0-1 when Rosa scores a goal this season.
• This also marks the second straight year a YSU freshman has scored at least three goals in a season.
• Last season, Sara Felder posted three goals.

Felder Feasting
• Sophomore Sara Felder is picking up where she left off from last season.
• Felder, who has named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2024 after scoring three goals, now has two scores and an assist in nine games this season.

Newcomers Make Impact
• Newcomers have made a big impact for the Penguins early on in the 2025 campaign, scoring 26 of the Penguins' 30 points.
• Junior Camille Bultel leads the team with three goals and two assists for eight total points.
• Freshmen Kamryn Rosa has seven points with three goals and an assist, and Baylee Williams has five points on two goals and an assist.

Big Debut
• A pair of Youngstown State freshmen scored their first career points in their first collegiate game against Indiana on Aug. 14.
• Freshman Baylee Williams notched her first career goal, and she was assisted by redshirt freshman Leah Weiland for her first career assist.

Top Scorers Return|
• One of the top advantages for Youngstown State entering the season is the Penguins' top four scorers from the 2024 season return.
• Senior forwards Taylor Berry, Chloe Weiland, and sophomore striker Sara Felder and senior defender Emma Rigone are all back for YSU.
• Berry, who ranks 10th all-time with 27 career points, led the Penguins with nine points after scoring a pair of goals and dishing out five assists.
• Her assists were the most in a season since Ernestina Abambila had eight in 2016.
•Weiland, who has scored seven goals in the last two seasons, posted three goals and added an assist for seven points.
• Felder, who was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team, also scored three goals for the Penguins.
• Rigone, a defender, notched two goals and added two assists for six points.

Felder, Naimoli Earned Accolades
• Forward Sara Felder and goalkeeper Maya Naimoli were both named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2024.
• Felder tied for the team lead with three goals while Naimoli posted three shutouts and 96 saves.

Weiland Impressive
• 
Senior Chloe Weiland has been the Penguins top goal scorer over the last two seasons.
• The Butler, Pa., native posted three goals in 2024 and led the Penguins with four scores during the 2023 season.
• She has a total of seven goals during her career.
