Penguins Visit In-State Foe Kent State Thursday Night

Opening Kick
• The Youngstown State women's soccer team returns to the road take on in-state foe Kent State, Thursday, Aug. 28. 
• Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio. 

The Matchup
• This is the 16th meeting between Youngstown State and Kent State in a series that dates back to 1997.
• The Golden Flashes own 12-2-1 advantage in the all-time series, but the Penguins are 1-0-1 in the last two meetings.
• Last season, the Penguins and Golden Flashes battled to a 2-2 tie, and Youngstown State won, 1-0, at Farmers National Bank Field during the 2023 season.

About Kent State
• Kent State enters the game with an overall record of 1-1-1 after tying Northwestern, 1-1, on Aug. 24. 
• Leading the Golden Flashes is Samantha Miller, who has two goals, and goalkeeper Leah Shaffer with 11 saves and one shutout.
• Kent State is 1-0 against the Horizon League this season after defeated Cleveland State, 1-0, to open the season on Aug. 14.

• The Penguins earned their first win of the season with a dominating 3-0 shutout over St. Bonaventure.

Naimoli Moving Up Lists
• Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered her first shutout of the season and her the fourth clean sheet of her career in the Penguins' win over St. Bonaventure.

• Naimoli also ranks tied for fifth on the career wins list with six. 

Getting to Three
• Against the Bonnies, Youngstown State scored three goals in a game for the first time since a 3-1 victory over Robert Morris on Oct. 30, 2024.
• It also marked the fourth time since the start of the 2023 campaign the Penguins scored at least three goals in game.

Newcomers Make Impact
• Newcomers have made a big impact for the Penguins early on in the 2025 campaign scoring 12 of the Penguins' 15 points.
• Freshman Baylee Williams leads the Penguins with five points on two goals and an assist.
• Junior Camille Bultel and freshman Kamryn Rosa each have three points on a goal and an assist, while freshman Leah Weiland has tallied an assist.

Naimoli Putting In Work
• In the first four games of the year, sophomore goalkeeper Maya Naimoli has been tested.
• She has faced a total of 94 shots and has tallied 26 saves, including a career-high 11 against No. 25 Texas Tech on Aug. 17.

Big Debut
• A pair of Youngstown State freshman scored their first career points in their first collegiate game against Indiana on Aug. 14. 
• Freshman Baylee Williams notched her first career goal, and she was assisted by redshirt freshman Leah Weiland for her first career assist.
