Bloomington, Ind. – The Youngstown State women's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a 6-1 setback to Big Ten member Indiana on Thursday evening at Bill Armstrong Stadium.

Freshman Baylee Williams scored her first career goal to lead the Penguins (0-1) offensively while Maya Naimoli tallied seven saves.

The Penguins fiercely battled the Hoosiers (1-0) through the first 45 minutes and trailed 1-0 at the intermission.

Indiana's Haden Vlcek scored in the game's first 10 minutes to put the Hoosiers up a goal.

The Hoosiers scored twice within the first 15 minutes of the second half and added scored in the 62nd and 75th minute to extend their advantage to 5-0.

Williams put the Penguins on the board in the 80th minute off an assist from freshman Leah Weiland, her first career assist.

Youngstown State visits No. 25 Texas Tech, Sunday, Aug. 17. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas.
