The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Milwaukee on Saturday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins (8-7 and 1-1) won the doubles points and picked up four singles wins in straight sets to beat the Panthers (6-12, 0-2).
In doubles, YSU won at No. 2 and No. 3 to clinch the point. At No. 3, Lydia Foster and Lorena Cedeno picked up a 6-1 win. After MKE won at No. 1 doubles, Lili Minich and Line Greyling won the final four points to pick up a 6-3 win at No. 3.
In singles, YSU won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles.
At No. 1, Julia Marko picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win for the 78th singles victory of her career. That moves her into sole possession of second place in school history.
At No. 2, Lili Minich won by scores of 6-4, 6-2. At No. 3, Yeseniia Ovcharova won her match 6-4, 6-0 and at No. 5, Loreno Cedeno cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
The Panthers won in three sets at No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
YSU closes out the weekend with a match against Chicago State tomorrow. First serve at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center is set for 11 a.m.
