The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Cleveland State on Saturday night at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins won the doubles point and senior William Rassat won in three sets in his final home match.
The Guins fall to 13-9 and 5-3 in the Horizon League while the Vikings improve to 12-11 and 8-0.
The Penguins won the doubles point that took nearly an hour. The Vikings won the first completed match before YSU battled back with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
The first win came at No. 3 as Mihai Haita and Viktor Van Craenenbroeck earned a 7-5 win. At No. 2, Dasset and Balci battled for a 7-6 (4) triumph. In the tiebreaker, YSU led 6-0 before CSU closed within 6-4.
In singles, Cleveland State won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Rassat claimed a 6-4, 5-7, 10-2 win at No. 2 singles. At No. 4, Matteo Ceradelli lost in three sets.
YSU is next in action on Friday when it faces Southern Indiana in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.
