Crestview Hills, Ky. – The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up an impressive 6-1 win over Northern Kentucky on Saturday evening at the Five Seasons Racquet Club.
YSU improves to 13-7 and 5-1 in the Horizon League while NKU finishes the regular season at 5-11 and 3-5.
In doubles, the Guins won the point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2, Onder Balci and Mihai Haita won 6-4 while at No. 3, Matteo Cerardelli and Viktor Van Craenenbroeck collected a 6-2 win.
In singles, the Guins won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6. Haita won in three sets at No. 4 while the Norse won at No. 3.
At No. 1, Balci picked up a 7-5, 7-5 victory. At No. 2, William Rassat was a 6-2, 6-2 winner. At No. 4, Haita rallied for a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8) victory. At No. 5, Chester Wickwire earned 6-2, 6-4 win. At No. 6, Van Craenenbroeck won his contest by a 6-1, 7-6 (3) margin.
YSU closes out the weekend with a match against IU Indy. First serve at the 3 p.m. at the West Indy Racquet Club.
