The Youngstown State women's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday beating Slippery Rock and falling to Toledo at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins (4-4) had a full afternoon of tennis playing a two-and-a-half-hour match vs. the Rockets and an almost six-hour bout with the Rock.
In the night cap, the Guins dropped the doubles point before Julia Marko (No. 1), Lorena Cedeno (No. 2) and Yeseniia Ovcharova (No. 3) all won in straight sets in singles. However, Slippery Rock picked up straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to tie the contest.
Freshman Sarah Partida Garcia outlasted SRU's Georgie Lancaster 7-6, 6-7, 6-1 in a match the concluded at 11:47 p.m. The dual contest started just after 6 p.m. with doubles and played alongside a YSU men's match with Walsh.
Earlier in the day, YSU lost 5-2 to Toledo.
The Penguins won the doubles point as Ghada Dirninger and Lili Minich collected the deciding win at No. 1 by a score of 7-6 (5) after Cedeno and Lydia Forster won 6-4 at No. 3.
In singles, Julia Marko earned a 6-0, 7-6 (5) win at No. 1 singles while the Bulls won the other five singles contests in straight sets.
