Perrysburg, Ohio – The Youngstown State women's tennis team battled back for a 4-3 win over Bowling Green on Friday afternoon at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
The Penguins (5-4) lost a tough doubles point before rebounding to win four singles contests to beat the Falcons (5-2).
In doubles, YSU won at No. 1 as Julia Marko and Ghada Dirninger collected a 7-6 (7-3) win. However BGSU won at No. 2 and No. 3 to grab a 1-0 lead.
In singles, YSU won at No. 1, No. 2, No.4 and No. 5 in straight sets to rally for the win.
At No. 1, Marko won 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2, Minich won 7-5, 6-3, at No. 4, Yeseniia Ovcharova won 6-4, 6-2 and Ghada Dirninger won 6-1, 6-3.
The Falcons won in straight sets at No. 3 and won in three sets at No. 6.
The Penguins return to action on Saturday when they visit Western Michigan. First serve against the Broncos is set for 11 a.m.
