The Youngstown State men's tennis team remained unbeaten with a hard-fought 5-2 win over Toledo on Saturday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Guins won the doubles point and were victorious in four singles contests vs. the Rockets. With the win, YSU improves to 5-0 on the season. The Penguins are set to face Walsh later this evening.
In doubles, YSU earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to earn the point. In singles play, the Penguins won at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
At No. 1 doubles, Onder Balci and Ethan Dasset picked up a 6-2 win while at No. 2, Filip Avdeev and Mihai Haita won by a 6-4 margin.
In singles, Haita won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles while at No. 3, Avdeev claimed a 6-4, 7-6 win. The Rockets won in straight sets at No. 1 singles.
The remaining three contests were all decided in three-set tiebreakers and two were wins for the Guins.
At No. 6, Viktor Van Craenenbroeck battled for a 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (4) win to clinch the team win. At No. 4, Dasset picked up a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6) win to close out the contest.
