East Lansing, Mich. – The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over Ball State on Saturday at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Guins won the doubles point and earned wins in three singles contests to defeat the Cardinals (3-2) for their fourth straight win. YSU improves to 7-4 on the season. Three of the last four wins have come by 4-3 margins.
In doubles, YSU won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 3, Lorena Cedeno and Yeseniia Ovcharova collected a 6-4 victory. At No. 2, Lili Minich and Line Greyling clinched the point with a 7-5 victory.
At No. 2 singles, Milich earned a 6-1, 6-3 win while at No. 5 singles, Ghada Dirninger won 7-6, 7-5. Three of the other four contests went three sets, with Ball State winning at No. 1 and No. 6. But at No. 4, Ovcharova rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win to claim the win.
YSU is back at it early tomorrow when it takes on Michigan State. First serve against the Spartans is set for 10 a.m.
