Cumberland, R.I. – The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up a 7-0 win over Nichols College on Saturday.
With the win, YSU remains unbeaten at 4-0. It marks the second straight year that the Penguins have won four consecutive duals to start the year.
Youngstown State won the doubles point and picked up wins in all six singles contests. Five of the six singles contests were won in straight sets.
YSU claimed wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles and had the upper hand at No. 1 singles win the point was clinched.
At No. 2 doubles, Onder Balci and Ethan Dasset picked up a 6-2 win while at No. 3, Mihai Haita and Viktor Van Craenbroeck earned a 6-1 victory.
At No. 1 singles, Balci won 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2, William Rassat claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win, Haita cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3, while Van Craenbroeck won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Alex Woiten earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6.
In the lone three-set match of the contest, Chester Wickwire rallied for a 5-7, 6-3, 12-10 win.
The Penguins begin a six-match homestand next Saturday when they host Toledo at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
