No. 3 Penguins Host No. 6 Oakland in First Round Sunday

Opening Kick
• The No. 3 seeded Youngstown State women's soccer team (8-9-2, 5-2-2 Horizon League) hosts No. 6 Oakland in the first round of the 2025 Horizon League Championship, Sunday, Nov. 1.
• Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.

First Horizon League Championship Game at Farmers
• This is the first time Youngstown State has hosted a First Round Horizon League Championship Game at Farmers National Bank Field.
• This is also just the second time the Penguins have hosted a tournament game.
• The last time was in 2012 when the Penguins played at Stambaugh Stadium.

With a Win
• With a win over the Golden Grizzlies, the Penguins will advance to the semifinals and take on No. 2 Northern Kentucky,  Thursday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. Eastern in Milwaukee, Wis.
• A victory over Oakland will tie the program record for most wins in a season with 9, set in 2022.

The Matchup
• This is the 21st meeting between Youngstown State and Oakland in series that dates back to 1998.
• The Golden Grizzlies own a 15-2-3 advantage in the all-time series, but the Penguins won the last meeting, 3-0, on Oct. 16 at Farmers National Bank Field.
• Last season, Oakland defeated the Penguins, 3-1, in Rochester, Mich.

The Oakland Win
• Youngstown State won its third straight Horizon League match with a 3-0 shutout over Oakland on Oct. 16.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Maya Naimoli posted her third straight shutout with two saves.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa collected her sixth goal of the season and fifth in conference action, and junior Eva Sunjevaric and senior Chloe Weiland each scored their first goals of the year to lead the Penguins.
• Sophomore Sara Felder posted two assists on Rosa's and Weiland's goals.

About Oakland
• Oakland enters the game with an overall record of 3-7-8 and earned the sixth seed with a 2-2-6 league mark.
• The Golden Grizzlies are led by All-Horizon League Second-Team performer Brae Cole, who had six goals and two assists for 14 points.

Last Time Out
• The Penguins set the school record for Horizon League victories after defeating Robert Morris, 2-0, on Oct. 29
• Junior Camille Bultel and sophomore Sara Felder each scored goals while goalkeeper Maya Naimoli posted her fifth clean sheet of the season and had two saves.

Rosa Named Freshman of the Year
• Youngstown State forward Kamryn Rosa was named the Horizon League Women's Soccer Freshman of the Year, and a school record five players earned postseason honors after a vote by the league's head coaches, the Horizon League announced on Friday.
• Rosa is the first player in school history to earn the top freshman award, and this is the first time since 2014 that Youngstown State has placed multiple players on the all-league teams.
• Rosa, who earned All-Horizon League Second Team honors, scored six goals with an assist for 13 points in league action. She tied for second in the league in goals scored and ranked sixth in total points. Overall, Rosa tied for the team lead with seven goals and tallied two assists for 16 points.

School Record Five Named All-League
• Rosa and senior defender Emma Rigone, who scored one goal in 2025, were named to the All-League Second Team and Rigone was a Sportsmanship Award Finalist while junior midfielder Camille Bultel, sophomore forward Sara Felder, and sophomore goalkeeper Maya Naimoli were named to the All-League Third Team.
• Felder posted an impressive second season scoring eight goals overall with three assists for 19 points and posted six scores in Horizon League play. All three of her assists came in conference action, and she total 15 points which ranked tied for fourth in league action.
• Naimoli posted a record of 6-2-2 with four shutouts, 40 saves and a .784 save percentage in league action. She ranked tied for third in saves, tied for third in shutouts, fourth with a 1.10 goals-against average, and fifth in save percentage.
• Bultel posted a goal and three assists for five points in league action while she scored four goals with four assists overall.

Berry, Rigone Named Academic All-Horizon League
• Youngstown State seniors Taylor Berry and Emma Rigone have been named to the 2025 Valeo #HLWSOC All-Academic Team after of vote of the Horizon League Faculty Athletic Representatives, the league announced.
• This is Rigone's second time on the all-academic team, and Berry is a first-time recipient.
• Rigone, a 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selection, is a three-year captain that carries a 4.0 GPA in nursing, and she has been named to the Dean's and President's Lists all six semesters at Youngstown State. Rigone also plans to graduate as an Honors Scholar with Distinction.
• This season, Rigone has scored one goal from her defender position and helped the Penguins tie a school record for most Horizon League wins in a season.

• Berry, who was 2024 CSC Academic All-District selection, has been named to the Horizon League Honor Roll six times, the YSU President's list three times, and is a YSU Presidential Mentor.
• She owns a 3.74 GPA in marketing and has scored two goals with an assist in 2025.

Rosa Rising
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa is tied for the team lead with seven goals and has scored a goal in six of the last 10 games.
• Youngstown State is 5-1-1 when Rosa scores a goal this season.
• This also marks the second straight year a YSU freshman has scored at least three goals in a season.
• Her seven goals are the most by a freshman since Jade Flory had seven in 2011.
• Rosa also needs one more goal to tie the YSU freshman record for most goals scored in a season.

Felder Feasting
• Sophomore Sara Felder is picking up where she left off from last season.
• Felder, who has named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2024 after scoring three goals, now has eight scores and three assists in 19 games this season.
• Her eight goals this season rank tied for third in a single season and are the most since 2010.
• Felder leads the team in scoring with 19 points on seven goals and three assists.

South Carolina State Win
• Youngstown State won for the fourth straight time and extended its unbeaten streak to seven games, a school record, with a 3-0 shutout over South Carolina State on Oct. 19.
• Sara Felder scored for the sixth time this season while senior Sophia Blankenship recorded the first goal of her Penguins career, and freshman Baylee Williams posted her fourth goal of the year.
• Senior Chloe Weiland tallied two assists and senior Marissa Masano and sophomore Teagan Wahle each added another.
• Goalkeepers Aimee Benton and Nikki Whyte combined for the shutout.

Guins Scoring Numbers Up
• Youngstown State has scored at least 29 goals in a season two times in program history – 1997 (40) and 2025 (29).  
• With 29 goals and 24 assists this season, the Penguins have scored 82 total points, which ranks second all-time.
• The most points record is 105 set in 1997.

Penguins Love the Farm
• Youngstown State has loved playing at home in 2025.
• The Penguins own a 6-1 record at Farmers National Bank Field and are outscoring their opponents 18-6 in those games.
• Youngstown State is averaging 2.7 goals per game at home.

YSU Sets Conference Goals Scored, Points Marks
• Youngstown State now has 19 goals scored in league action, which broke the old record of 14 set in 2022.
• The Penguins also have 52 total points in Horizon League play which set the total points record.

The IU Indy Win
• Youngstown State picked up a 2-0 victory over IU Indy on Oct. 12.
• Goalkeeper Maya Naimoli recorded her second straight shutout and third of the season and tallied nine saves.
• Sophomore Sara Felder scored her fifth goal of the season while freshman Baylee Williams notched her third.

The Purdue Fort Wayne Win
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa posted her fifth goal of the year to lead the Penguins to the 1-0 victory.
• Maya Naimoli earned her second clean sheet of the year with one save.

The Detroit Mercy Win
• Senior Taylor Berry scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Penguins to a 4-2 home victory over Detroit Mercy on Sept. 28.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa and sophomore Sara Felder each scored goals, and junior Camille Bultel added a pair of assists.

The Green Bay Win
• The Penguins picked up a 3-2 win over Green Bay in the 2025 Horizon League opener.
• Sophomore Sara Felder scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Penguins.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa scored her second goal of the year, and senior Emma Rigone was credited with the game-winner.
 • Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered seven saves.
• The win marked just the second time the Penguins began Horizon League play 1-0.

Naimoli Moving Up Lists
• Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered her fourth shutout of the season and the seventh clean sheet of her career in the Penguins' 3-0 win over Oakland on Oct. 16.
• She now ranks tied for second with seven career shutouts.
• Naimoli became the fourth Youngstown State goalkeeper to collect 11 career victories and ranks fourth on the all-time wins list.
• Naimoli is also moving up the career saves list with 189 and now ranks ninth all-time.

TB In Rare Company
• With her two goals and assist against Detroit Mercy on Sept. 28, senior Taylor Berry became the third YSU player to score at least 10 career goals with 10 career assists.
• Berry now has 11 goals and 10 assists, and she ranks tied for fourth all-time with 32 career points.
• Berry ranks tied for eighth in goals and tied for fourth in assists.
