Penguins Battle Mastodons Thursday Night

Opening Kick
• The Youngstown State women's soccer team (3-8-2, 2-1-2 Horizon League) looks to extend its unbeaten streak to four games when it visits Horizon League foe Purdue Fort Wayne, Thursday, Oct. 9.
• Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Hefner Soccer Complex in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Matchup
• This is the 15th meeting between Youngstown State and Purdue Fort Wayne in a series dating back to 2004.
• The Penguins own an 8-6 advantage in the all-time series and have won the last four contests.
• In those four games, Youngstown State has outscored the Mastodons 7-2.
• Last season, the Penguins defeated the Mastodons, 3-1, on Sept. 29, 2024, at Farmers National Bank Field.
•  Chloe Weiland scored two goals and Emma Rigone scored a goal and recorded two assists in the win.

About Purdue Fort Wayne
• Purdue Fort Wayne enters the game with an overall record of 1-10-1 and a 0-4 mark in Horizon League action.
• The Mastodons, who are coming off a 3-1 loss to Oakland on Oct. 4, are led by Morgan Gallagher who has two goals and three assists for seven total points.

• The Penguins stay in the Hoosier state when it visits IU Indy, Sunday, Oct. 12.

Last Time Out
• Sophomore forward Sara Felder scored for the fourth time this season as the Youngstown State women's soccer team batted Wright State to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 4.
Maya Naimoli posted four saves.

The Detroit Mercy Win
• Senior Taylor Berry scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Penguins to a 4-2 home victory over Detroit Mercy on Sept. 28.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa and sophomore Sara Felder each scored goals, and junior Camille Bultel added a pair of assists.

The Green Bay Win
• The Penguins picked up a 3-2 win over Green Bay in the 2025 Horizon League opener.
• Sophomore Sara Felder scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Penguins.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa scored her second goal of the year, and senior Emma Rigone was credited with the game-winner.
 • Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered seven saves.
• The win marked just the second time the Penguins began Horizon League play 1-0.

Naimoli Moving Up Lists
• Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered her first shutout of the season and her the fourth clean sheet of her career in the Penguins' win over St. Bonaventure.
• She now ranks tied for seventh with four career shutouts.
• Naimoli also ranks tied for fourth on the career wins list with eight.
• Naimoli is also moving up the career saves list with 171 and needs five to move into a tie for 10th with Jackie Podolsky at 176.

TB In Rare Company
• With her two goals and assist against Detroit Mercy on Sept. 28, senior Taylor Berry became the third YSU player to score at least 10 career goals with 10 career assists.
• Berry now has 11 goals and 10 assists, and she ranks tied for fourth all-time with 32 career points.
• Berry ranks tied for eighth in goals and tied for fourth in assists.

Pair With 4
• Sophomore Sara Felder and freshman Kamryn Rosa each have four goals in 2025.
• It marks the first time since 2022 that multiple players have scored at least four goals in a season.

Rosa Rising
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa leads the team with four goals and has scored a goal in three of the last five games.
• Youngstown State is 3-0-1 when Rosa scores a goal this season.
• This also marks the second straight year a YSU freshman has scored at least three goals in a season.
• Her four goals are the most by a freshman since Marcella Sizer had five in 2019.

Felder Feasting
• Sophomore Sara Felder is picking up where she left off from last season.
• Felder, who has named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2024 after scoring three goals, now has four scores and an assist in 13 games this season.

Guins Among Leaders
• Junior Camille Bultel, sophomores Sara Felder and Maya Naimoli, and freshman Kamryn Rosa are among the Horizon League leaders
• Bultel leads the team with 10 points on three goals and four assists.
• Her four assists rank tied for eighth on the YSU single-season list.
• Bultel also ranks tied for fifth in the Horizon League in assists.
• Felder and Rosa are tied for ninth in goals scored overall, but are tied for the league lead in conference play with three.
• Naimoli leads the league with 75 saves and 6.25 saves per game and ranks fourth with a .721 save percentage.
