Indianapolis, Ind. – Sophomore goalkeeper Maya Naimoli recorded nine saves to register her second straight shutout as the Youngstown State women's soccer team knocked off IU Indy, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
Naimoli, who became the fourth YSU player to register 10 victories, faced a total of 21 shots, including 15 in the first half. The Penguins also recorded a team save.
Sophomore Sara Felder and freshman Baylee Williams each scored goals to lead the Penguins, who improve to 5-8-2 overall and 4-1-2 in Horizon League play.
With the loss, the Jaguars fall to 3-9-2 overall and 2-3-1in league action.
For the second straight game, the Penguins scored within the first 10 minutes of the contest. Felder, who posted her fifth goal of the season, found the high-left corner off a pass from Chloe Weiland to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead at the 9:26 mark.
Williams extended the Penguins lead to 2-0 in the 73rd minute. After a scrum following a corner kick, Williams hit the lower-right corner off an assist from Marissa Masano.
Youngstown State hosts Oakland, Thursday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
